The Valletta Local Council organised its annual 7th June concert in commemoration of the events which occurred in 1919, where four Maltese were killed during the riots. The concert took place in the Great Siege Square on the 6th June at 7.30pm.
Società Filarmonica Nazionale La Valette and Banda Cittadina King's Own performed a number of popular hymnes along Republic Street following a symphonic concert under the distinguished patronage of The Honourable Speaker of The House, Dr. Louis Galea.
The King's Own band under the direction of Mro. John Galea played Franz Lehár's They Merry Widow and Gioacchino Rossini's Overture Guillaume Tell. La Valette's band under the direction of Mro. Dominic Darmanin played Tchaikovsky's Overture Solenne 1812 and Johann Strauss' Blue Danube. The concert came to an end with the Maltese National Anthem performed by the King's Own Band.
