China Cultural Centre and Valletta Local Council will once again join forces in presenting the 2012 Happy Chinese New Year in Valletta in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and Malta to share the joy and happiness of the Chinese New Year of Dragon on the lunar calendar. The China Jiangsu Art Troupe consisting 23 outstanding artists selected from the Yancheng Municipal Company of Performing Arts of Jiangsu Province will present spectacular Chinese art performance to our Maltese friends.
On Saturday, 14th January at 10:30am, an opening performance featuring Chinese traditional music, dance and acrobatics will be held at the St. George’s Square, Valletta. Fancy parades will be conducted before the opening at 10:00am and after the opening at 11:30am along the Republic Street and the Merchants Street by the artists in dazzling costumes and jubilant dances with oriental charm and flavor.
On the same day at 8:00pm, the China Jiangsu Art Troupe will proudly present a Grand Art Performance at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, the program will include Chinese classical dance, music, songs, acrobatics and so on.
Then, on Sunday, 15th January at 8:00pm, a Chinese National Music Concert will be held in Sir Temi Zammit Hall at Malta University. The artists will present most famous Chinese music by traditional Chinese instruments such as Pipa (Lute), Erhu, Dizi ( Flute), Yangqin ( Dulcimer) etc. The beautiful Chinese national music will definitely enchant the audience.
To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malta, a Photographic exhibition will be on display from 2nd to 9th February 2012 at Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The inauguration of the exhibition will be held on Thursday, 2nd February 2012 at 6:00pm followed by a seminar on Sino- Maltese relations.
Besides the exciting performances and significant Photographic exhibition, a cultural fair will be held at Melita Street (China Cultural Centre) on Saturday, 4th February from 10:00am to 4:00pm to celebrateChinese Lanterns Festival. During the fair, attractive Chinese decorations, delicious Chinese food and charming Chinese cultural souvenirs will be available at most favorable prices.
