Next Saturday 6th October the Second Edition of Notte Bianca will kick off at 6.00pm.
Paul Borg Olivier and Francis Zammit Dimech, Mayor and Minister for Tourism and Culture, toured the different sites for the event.
The Mayor of Valletta said that this event is unique for Malta and Valletta is a perfect setting for staging such event. It is the only venue in Malta which can offer all the amenities with the cultural and artistic backdrop of the baroque palaces.
The Mayor encouraged all Beltin (the Citizens of Valletta) to participate in Notte Bianca and welcomed all the visitors to this event, appealing to have full respect to the City and its people.
Notte Bianca is the Second Edition following the success of last year's event, that was estimated to have attracted 70,000 visitors to the capital.
The event promises to be an extensive night of the arts, kicking off 6 p.m. and going on until the early hours of the following day.
For one sleepless night, museums, theatres, arts and cultural centres, libraries, churches and chapels, auberges, cinemas, streets, squares and gardens will be the venue for a variety of events.
Among the highlights, Hastings Gardens will be hosting a collection of dance genres, while the Upper Barrakka Gardens will serve as a stage for a display of contemporary visual installations by various artists.
St George's Square will host JaPoRoSeT - a fusion of pop, rock, jazz, soul and folk - and Merchants Street will be transformed into a Maltese traditional feast, with roving folk singers and dancers, Maltese food and
A mediaeval market will also be set up at Independence Square, while food, music and live entertainment will be offered in the car park adjacent to Castille Place.
At different intervals of the night, Freedom Square will hold a unique contemporary theatre production and a spectacular aerial show, with a synergy of Maltese and foreign artists.
Notte Bianca is co-hosted by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture and the Valletta local council and is sponsored by the National Lotteries for Good Causes Fund of the Finance Ministry, the Malta Tourism Authority, HSBC Bank Malta plc, Vodafone Malta Ltd and DJS Trading.
